About the job:
The Red Hat CoreOS team is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join us in Brazil (remote). In this role, you will contribute to the development of Red Hat CoreOS and Fedora CoreOS operating system spins. The role involves working on feature enhancements, bug fixes, and test automation. You'll help with the development features, and the maintenance of existing projects. As an Associate Software Engineer, you will be a part of a distributed team and work both on your own and in tight collaboration and regular communication with other team members and upstream developers. This is a great opportunity to learn how to work in a fast paced environment. You’ll get to work on many emerging technologies, such as Ignition, afterburn, rpm-ostree, and maybe even be involved in creating some new ones.
What you will do:
Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the upstream community, including contributing new development work, bug fixes, tests and release automation.
  • Contribute to the development, operation, and maintenance of next generation build systems.
  • Oversee development and maintenance for CoreOS upstreams projects (rpm-ostree, ignition, coreos-installer, CI pipeline, …)
  • Participates in pull request reviews and small team demos
  • Publicize the work the team is doing via blogs, web postings, or conference talks

What you will bring:
Required Skills:
  • Experience with using or developing in a Linux environment.
  • Experience using programming languages like Python, Go, or Rust.
  • Curious to learn more about Operating systems and container technologies.
  • Passion for or interest in open source development.

The following is considered a plus:
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Curious about DevOps principles and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience working upstream and familiarity with upstream development practices.
  • Experience with kubernetes and running applications as containers.
  • Experience with git
